🛑 JUMPS PARK CLOSED FRIDAY 22 MARCH 🛑 ONE DAY ONLY!! The Jumps Park is closed tomorrow Friday 22 March. Our crew went through tonight and gave it a tidy up after the rain. There's some spots that are still soft so we need the sun to bake it in tomorrow. Jumps will reopen Saturday 23 March. The Big Line may remain closed - pending inspection by our crew. There's a decent washout after one of the jumps that will probably send you OTB. Pease inspect the jumps on your first run on Saturday especially if early morning to check for any remaining soft spots. TRAIL WORK PLANNED FOR FERN GULLY ON WEDNESDAY There will be some trail rectification work taking place on Fern Gully this Wednesday kicking off at 730am. Signage will be in place and a safety spotter to advise any riders, but maybe best to avoid Fern Gully for the day (and Straight Six which uses Fern Gully to take you back to the trailhead). 🥰 THANK YOU TRAIL FAIRIES 🥰 It was a small turnout for our working bee today with five volunteers heading out on Stump Jumper. The trail was given a top to bottom tidy up. A few berms were given a mild reshaping near the two Stump Jumps - please take care in this area. We're hoping for a bit of rain tonight and tomorrow which should help firm these up. WEEKEND DIRT REPORT Trail conditions: some light drizzle on Thursday should reduce the dust if you get out there early but after some traffic the dust will be back we're sure. Trail of the week: this week it's Round the Outside, the longest trail in the network. If you haven't ridden it yet, or it's a favourite, time to get a lap or two in before the hazard reduction burns commence and the trail is closed. Round the Outside combines flowing and undulating descents with natural rock features and some steep berms. It's a true adventure trail with plenty of options to make it interesting (keep an eye out for the side hits hidden in plain sight). ⚠️ UPCOMING HAZARD REDUCTION BURN WITHIN GRAVITY EDEN TRAIL NETWORK ⚠️ Forestry Corporation NSW have notified us of a proposed burn to take place in the Bimmil loop area of Nullica State Forest, approx. 5km North West of Eden (as per the yellow area on the locality map). This section of Nullica State Forest - which includes two Gravity Eden Trails (SODIUM and ROUND THE OUTSIDE only) will be closed during the operation and for 4 weeks after the burn (or until deemed safe by Club President in consultation with FCNSW representatives). Timing of ignition is proposed to take place immediately post Easter however this will be weather-dependant and within safety prescriptions. All remaining trails and trailhead will still be opened for use. Riders and forest users are asked to abide by the trail closure signs to ensure the safety of the public and FCNSW staff during the operation and until the area is officially reopened. Eden MTB Club would like to thank Forestry Corporation NSW for working closely with us to understand the impact on our trails and therefore riders, and their early and regular communication with us. Be prepared to walk away with a solid layer of dust covering your legs and probably a sweet dirt moustache 〰️ We've also got some hazard reduction burns in the region. While these don't currently directly impact the trails, the smoke can travel a bit so if you get easily affected by smoke haze please be aware. UPDATE ON THE DIRT JUMPS The weather is finally cooperating so we've been able to get stuck into the final works with confidence that it won't deteriorate straight away. We've had Michelin's in with some machinery and our volunteer trail crew spent a few hours in the hot sun this arvo raking and smoothing. There's a bit of rain in the forecast for tomorrow which should help settle things a bit. We've got more machinery work booked for early next week - so we're asking for just a bit more patience while we work through the finishing touches. Stay tuned for an update on opening real soon.... But for now, they're still CLOSED. Please respect the work of our volunteers who are working hard to make sure the jumps are shred ready ASAP. WEEKEND DIRT REPORT Trail conditions: mostly dry and loose. We had some strong winds earlier this week. We've inspected most but not all trails. If you happen to find a down tree, log a report via Trailforks or send us a message via our socials. Bonus points for taking a pic (so we know what tools we need) and giving us a location (either GPS or a nearby marker) so we can find it quickly and clear it. WEEKEND DIRT REPORT Trail conditions: a bit of rain earlier this week has settled the dust and trails are running prime. Trail of the week: Old Tom is the perfect combo of tech at the top, with plenty of rocks and a couple chutes for good measure before opening up into some proper big jumps. Old Tom had a bit of a buff up down the bottom near the trail head by our trail crew last night so it's looking the goods. LONG WEEKEND DIRT REPORT Trail conditions: trails are dry with a hit of loose-ness. Ready for you to spend the long weekend shredding - but watch out for those loose corners. A bit of rain on the Friday forecast - this could result in hero dirt for Saturday and Sunday. Trail of the week: Sodium. A bit of a forgotten trail, it's fast, flowy and hectic fun (according to one of our volunteers at the Thursday Night Dig Night). WEEKEND DIRT REPORT Trail conditions: we had some pretty heavy rain on Wednesday so some trails are running a bit slow - in particular Prana and Old Tom. You might find it hard to keep trail speed so watch out coming into those jumps. The rockier trails should be running great with a bit of extra moisture though - so hit up Breath of Fire, Rodgie Bull and Salt Lizard. Trail of the week: this week it's Jump Stumper. This fan favourite has been described as having a hint of spice and is full of all things nice. A word of caution: with the warmer weather you may encounter some of our local wildlife 🐍🐍 If you see them, give them a wide berth and they'll likely clear out. They're not really interested in being your friend. DIRT JUMPS ARE STILL CLOSED Please. Please. Please - don't ride the dirt jumps. We know they look pretty good from the roll in but trust us - they're still soft in the important spots. Not only does riding them now cause damage but it's a safety risk to you as there's unexpected hazards. Our trail crew were out working on them yesterday and will be out again over the next week. Unfortunately once again there is more work needed to repair areas where riders have gone through very soft sections. This warmer windy weather is helping us along. We're as keen as you are to see them open - and as soon as they are we'll let us all know. But for now this closed sign remains up - please respect it. WEEKEND DIRT REPORT Trail conditions: we've almost gone full circle from just a few weeks ago. The vast majority of our trails are now very dry. This means you'll find some loose sandy sections and some loose rocks on trails like Straight Six. If it's been a while between laps please adjust your riding style to suit these changed conditions. Now we know what you're thinking - we stuffed up and there's a beach picture in this week's report! Well that's no mistake - Saturday is looking like a hot one. We encourage you to do like the locals do, hit the trails early, remember to stay hydrated, and then hit up the beach to cool off! Trail of the week: This week's trail of the week is Cruiser. Sure - you've probably ridden up Cruiser but have you ridden the descent? Full of snappy berms this trail is prone to causing riders to start shouting 'yiew' and throwing fist bumps at bottom. 🤘👊 Work a lap of Cruiser into your next ride then head back across to After Burner to continue up to the Flow Zone. WEEKEND DIRT REPORT Trail conditions: ALL trails are now open! Old Tom has been re-opened - BUT there is a re-direct out onto the fire trail at the very bottom. Please watch out for the trail signage and exit where directed. Follow the signs to the car park - it's about a 500m ride down the fire trail. This closure and re-direct is to let the final section dry out properly - it will re open later. Note: Old Tom is an advanced trail. This includes a mandatory drop feature. Make sure to adopt the pre-ride, re-ride, freeride approach to this trail. The JUMPS PARK is still CLOSED! We've got work scheduled to complete the jumps very soon. Hang in there - we're super close to having these open!! Trail of the week: this week's feature trail is Gutterball. A relatively easy pedal halfway up Power Up gets you to this gem of a trail. Gutterball is full of fast turns and a few sneaky jump options. As always, if you do spot a trail issue lodge a Trail Report on the Trailforks app - Eden MTB Club's preferred trail maintenance app. Snap a pic and log the trail and GPS location. The report will go straight to our Trail Crew. (Although the trail crew are really hoping for a bit of a break - it's been a busy few weeks with all this rain!) WOO HOO! Thanks to the hard work of our volunteer trail crew, Garden of Eden is back open. Do you know what this means?.... We can now start re-opening our Gravity Zone. Round the Outside, and Sodium are now OPEN!!! There is a tree down on Jump Stumper that will be cleared ASAP. Old Tom remains closed while the re-repair work settles - it should not be far off! Please take care at the bottom of Round the Outside where Sodium and Jump Stumper merge and as you exit these trails onto Garden of Eden. This is the lowest of the trails and is still boggy in areas. There has also been some trail work so it will be different since you last rode it. A huge thank you to those of you who were patient and stayed off the closed trails while they dried out. Don't be that person! Some of our trails remain closed. These closures are very clearly marked on all three trailheads as well as each individual trail. Our trail crew were out inspecting repair work on Old Tom today and were very disappointed to see fresh tyre marks through this work. They were more disappointed to encounter a group riding this closed trail while doing the inspection. Old Tom is drying out well but has several places which hold water and remain soft. This damage by riding will likely delay opening as it will need to be repaired - again! So don't be that person who rides closed trails and keeps the trail closed longer for others. And don't be that person who ruins the work of our volunteers - who give up their own time to keep the flow in the trails. And now for an opening update - the trails are not officially open until safety signage is in place and on display. Exciting news - @quadcrowntmb is officially coming to #GravityEden! 'The Orca' Quad Crown MTB Series event will be your first chance to get a taste of the Gravity Eden trails with a selection of track opening for the Quad Crown weekend on the Sapphire Coast, 8-10 September 2023. We've managed to tweak the course so that we can protect the more vulnerable trails whilst delivering an awesome taste of what Gravity Eden has to offer. The Orca will span Friday to Sunday, utilising a two-stage and a prelude format. UPDATE ON GRAVITY EDEN OPENING DATE. Thanks for following along with us as we build Gravity Eden MTB Park and prepare the trails for some wild riding. We originally hoped for a winter opening, however there have been some delays outside of our control. The biggest of these still affecting us is the lack of rainfall. We need some serious rain to pack down and fully consolidate the trails. If we opened now, the trails would be damaged just as the fun was starting.  At the moment we're working on other areas of the park like roads and infrastructure, and the jump park and pump track are looking amazing. We are crossing our fingers for a spring opening but it's up to the weather gods (so do a rain dance for us). 🌧️ As soon as we can secure an opening date we will let you all know.  Thanks for the support and we look forward to sharing the trails. #GravityEden
